Flames’ Kylington Makes Comeback, Sends Positive Message
January 30, 2024 by Derek Olsen
Fans of the Flames and hockey in general witnessed something truly magical and important on Jan. 25, 2024. Flames defenceman Oliver Kylington, after a year-and-a-half hiatus from professional hockey, made his NHL comeback in a game against the Blue Jackets. He subsequently suited up against the Blackhawks on Jan. 27 and looks to be set to finish the season with the team.
He is skating on the Flames’ backend for the first time since May 2022, when he was 24 years of age. Now 26, he is accomplishing something bigger than making the NHL or winning a Stanley Cup; he is winning his battle with mental illness. Let’s take a deeper look at Kylington’s recent play, his future prospects, and what his journey means to the hockey world.

Jets Make Mistake By Waiving Chisholm Over Stanley

Petr Mrazek: From Maple Leafs Failure to Blackhawks Extension
January 30, 2024 by The Old Prof
When Kyle Dubas, then the general manager (GM) of the Toronto Maple Leafs, signed Petr Mrazek ahead of the 2021-22 season, it was seen as a significant move to fortify the team’s goaltending lineup. Pairing Mrazek with returning starter Jack Campbell created a tandem that had the potential to elevate the Maple Leafs’ goaltending to new heights.
As the season approached, hockey analysts expressed optimism about the goaltending shape the Maple Leafs found themselves in. The duo of Campbell and Mrazek was hailed as one of the best in years, bringing a blend of experience, talent, versatility, and (even) personality. Both goalies were considered capable of shouldering the responsibilities of a starter; thus, having a 1A and 1B tandem was a huge improvement over even the solid Frederik Andersen. Together, they offered the team a competitive advantage. There was a lot to look forward to with the Campbell-Mrazek partnership.
Devils Reuniting With Adam Henrique at the Deadline Makes Sense
January 30, 2024 by Neil Villapiano
New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald has some work to do. With just over $9 million dollars in cap space, the newly extended man in charge has the flexibility to improve his team as they push to get back into the postseason for a second straight season. There are needs at the goaltending position and on defense.
However, with Michael McLeod now out on an indefinite leave of absence, there’s a massive hole at center. Looking at trade options, Devils fans have always had a warm place in their heart for Anaheim Ducks forward Adam Henrique.
