Red Wings Weekly Recap: Defense Steps Up & Seider Gets Rewarded
But, they struggle to limit opponents shots on net
January 22nd- January 28th Results
01/23: 5-4 Loss (vs Dallas Stars)
01/25: 3-0 Win (vs Philadelphia Flyers)
01/27: 5-2 Win ( vs Vegas Golden Knights)
Stud: Moritz Seider
The 2023-24 season is a big one for Moritz Seider as he looks to get himself a contract extension this offseason as a pending RFA, but the start of the season saw many feel that he had taken a step backward in his play while struggling defensively.
As of late though, Seider’s play has looked more like that of the player who won the 2022 Calder Trophy. As the number one pairing with Jake Walman, Seider has been tasked with slowing down the opponent’s top players and has done an admirable job and has proven that he can be the Red Wings lockdown defenseman as the season has progressed.
