While they have had an entertaining 2023-24 season, the Washington Capitals continue to fight their way into a playoff spot and are hoping they can squeeze back into the postseason after missing last season. While captain Alex Ovechkin has taken a slight step back with his offensive production and the team will be without Nicklas Backstrom for the forseeable future, the Capitals have had more than a few players step up in a big way and seem like a team destined to make it back into the playoff picture.

While the Capitals were able to fight back and force overtime against the Dallas Stars in their final game before the All-Star break, they unfortunately couldn’t pull out the win and found themselves with a loss heading into the long break. They currently sit 7th in the extremely tight Metropolitan Division, so they have a huge hill to climb.
