Stars Outshine Golden Knights 2-1 in Game 7, Advance to Round 2

After two weeks of thrilling play, Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is in the books. On Sunday night, the Dallas Stars were the last team to punch their ticket to the second round by defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 at home in Game 7 of their series. Dallas will move on to tangle with the Colorado Avalanche. Moreover, with Vegas’ elimination, there will officially not be a repeat champion in 2023-24.

Barkov, Matthews, and Staal Named Selke Trophy Finalists

On Sunday, May 5, the NHL and the Professional Hockey Writers Association (PWHA) announced the finalists for the 2024 Selke Trophy. The Selke Trophy is annually awarded “to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.” This year’s finalists are Aleksander Barkov of the Florida Panthers, Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Jordan Staal of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Another year, another early exit for the Toronto Maple Leafs as their comeback in their series against the Boston Bruins fell short, losing in overtime in Game 7, 2-1. The Maple Leafs had an opportunity to slay the dragon, exorcise their demons, whatever you want to call it after they managed to claw their way back from a 3-1 hole. In the end, it was another disappointing ending.
Canucks Have Fully Bought Into Coach Tocchet’s Mentality

As a result of the team’s win on the road, the Vancouver Canucks have moved into the second series in their Stanley Cup journey. In a tense and tightly contested matchup, the Canucks squeezed out a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Nashville Predators in Game 6 of their first-round playoff series. The victory pushed them into the second round of the playoffs.

Bruins finally got thru round 1. Let's hope they can continue when they meet Florida. If they play like they did in 3 of the games against Toronto they will be out in 5. I am a Bruins fan and hope they beat Florida in 5 games. Bruins took care of Florida in the regular season but the playoffs are another season. Bruins do not play stupid with the puck in our defence end and if you do you will pay for it. Go Bruins
