Vince Dunn’s Value to Kraken Evident During Injury Absence
March 23, 2024 by Edgar Chaput
As the Seattle Kraken have trailed off in the race for a playoff spot this season, one figure’s absence has clouded the club’s slide. Defenceman Vince Dunn has not played since March 4 versus the Calgary Flames due to an upper-body issue. Even though the team’s deficiencies are more due to its offensive ineptitude, it should be noted that the Kraken has only won one game since then.
Red Wings Have a Star in the Making With Lucas Raymond
March 24, 2024 by Jordan Orth
When the Detroit Red Wings used the fourth overall pick in the 2020 Draft on Lucas Raymond, there were high hopes that the Swedish-born forward could become a piece of the puzzle that would eventually lead the organization back to form. After a strong start to his NHL career, it seemed his game had taken a step backward last season. But this season has seen the 21-year-old bounce back and take his game to another level, and he seems to be budding into the star that general manager Steve Yzerman and the rest of the organization hoped that he would be.
Insider Believes Oilers Could Lose Leon Draisaitl
March 24, 2024 by Jim Parsons
While the current focus for the Edmonton Oilers isn’t on a contract extension for Leon Draisaitl, it won’t be long until the organization is in a position where a big decision will be looming. And, as the regular season winds down, the playoffs take place, and the Oilers try to make a deep run toward the Stanley Cup, every point Draisaitl gets will factor into his next deal. Darren Dreger, speaking on TSN OverDrive, believes the numbers could get so high, that Draisaitl might price himself right out of what the Oilers can afford.

Bruins Experimenting With Third Defense Pairing as Playoffs Loom
March 24, 2024 by Nick Abramo
The Boston Bruins have options when it comes to their third defensive pairing. It’s a safe bet that the team’s top four D-men are on solid ground heading down the home stretch and into the playoffs — Charlie McAvoy and Matt Grzelcyk on the first pairing, with Hampus Lindholm and Brandon Carlo manning the second. That’s how it’s been most of the season, and it doesn’t appear that coach Jim Montgomery will veer from that setup if all four guys remain healthy.
Connor McDavid Making Strong Case to Win 4th Hart Trophy
March 23, 2024 by Dale Bochon
It’s been a crazy ride in the 2023-24 NHL regular season for Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. Both have emerged from early-season setbacks and are looking stronger and stronger as the playoffs get closer. Based on how well McDavid has played since returning from his early season injuries, he’s making a legitimate case to be named the NHL’s Most Valuable Player.
Maple Leafs’ Depth on Defence Creates Questions for T.J. Brodie
March 24, 2024 by Andrew Forbes
On Wednesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Washington Capitals in the second half of a back-to-back after losing to the Philadelphia Flyers on the road. Earlier in the day, however, Sheldon Keefe announced that the team would be without veteran defenceman T.J. Brodie who would sit for the first time as a healthy scratch in his Maple Leafs’ tenure — aside from late season rest games.
