Jaccob Slavin Wins 2024 Lady Byng Trophy

On Thursday, May 30, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin was named the recipient of the 2024 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. The award is given “to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.” This is the second time Slavin has won the award, having also won it in 2020-21, and finishing second in 2021-22. He matches New York City native Joe Mullen (two times) as the second U.S.-born player to win the trophy multiple times. He also joins Red Kelly as the second defenseman to win it at least twice.

The Florida Panthers got a third-period goal from Anton Lundell to defeat the New York Rangers 3-1 and take a 3-2 series advantage in their Eastern Conference Final playoff series.

Utah’s Top Defense Targets at the 2024 NHL Draft

A year ago, heading into the 2023 NHL Draft, scouts and media raved about the forwards it contained, and rightfully so, as it was stacked with high-end talent. You had Connor Bedard, a generational player, alongside others such as Adam Fantilli, Matvei Michkov, and Leo Carlsson, a top four that could end up being one of the best of all time when it’s all said and done. That only tells half the story, as there were ample forwards throughout all seven rounds, which is why it was deemed forward-heavy.
Ducks’ Diverse Talent Pool on Display at 2024 IIHF World Championship

With the conclusion of the 2024 IIHF World Championship over the weekend, the sun has now officially set on the hockey season for all members of the Anaheim Ducks. Six players got to play bonus hockey via the tournament: Trevor Zegras, Olen Zellweger, Isac Lundestrom, Pavol Regenda, Radko Gudas, and Lukáš Dostál, with the latter two securing a gold medal for their native Czechia in a 2-0 win over Switzerland.

The Calgary Flames have made a ton of trades over the past calendar year, and they don’t appear to be done just yet. The relationship between the organization and goaltender Jacob Markstrom seemed to sour late in the 2023-24 season, leading many to believe he will be moved this offseason.
Canucks Have to Avoid Making Same Mistakes as 2020 Offseason

The Vancouver Canucks finished the 2023-24 season first in the Pacific Division with a 50-23-9. Additionally, the club hosted its first Stanley Cup playoff game in Vancouver since 2015, beating the Nashville Predators in six games before falling to the Edmonton Oilers in seven games during the second round.
