Kyle Connor scored two goals in the third period to lead the Winnipeg Jets past the Colorado Avalanche 7-6 in Game 1 in the first round of the 2024 NHL Playoffs. In a game featuring 13 goals, there was also a great deal of feistiness between the two teams. The Avalanche were credited with 54 hits, while the Jets had 46.
Maple Leafs News & Rumors: Samsonov, Reaves, Kampf & Woll
April 21, 2024 by The Old Prof
The Boston Bruins opened their first-round playoff series with a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 1. Bruins’ goalie Jeremy Swayman was the player of the game, putting up a strong 35-save performance. He also got some fortunate help from a goalpost to stop a shot from Auston Matthews that could have tied the game 1-1.

April 21, 2024 by Devin Little
The Detroit Red Wings missed the playoffs this year by a razor-thin margin. Because of that, this may be the first offseason in many years where Red Wings fans are still looking back what could have been different about this season rather than ahead to what the offseason will bring.

Schenn Disappoints in First Season as Blues’ Captain
April 21, 2024 by Stephen Ground
Before the 2023-24 season, the St. Louis Blues named Brayden Schenn the 24th captain in franchise history, putting him in a prestigious list of names that includes Bernie Federko, Brett Hull, Chris Pronger, Al MacInnis, and even (briefly) Wayne Gretzky. With former captain Ryan O’Reilly leaving via trade to the Toronto Maple Leafs the season prior, Schenn was on a short list of logical candidates to fill the vacancy, and most considered that the veteran, who was set to enter his seventh season, was the favorite to land the job.
