Edvinsson learning on job while helping Red Wings during playoff push
Simon Edvinsson couldn’t help himself. When the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 on the road Monday, it was his 18th NHL game. It was his first against Victor Hedman. At times, the 21-year-old gawked at the 33-year-old, a childhood idol and model defenseman from his native Sweden.
‘Puck Cancer’ charity game features Blues, NHL alumni, country music stars
The St. Louis Blues alumni faced a group of NHL alumni and celebrity guests in the "Puck Cancer" charity game at Centene Community Ice Center on Friday.
Proceeds from the event go toward supporting Siteman Cancer Center and The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
The game, which drew a sellout crowd of 3,000 plus standing room attendance and consisted of two 20-minute periods, ended in a 7-7 tie.

Coyotes ready to bid on arena site at June 27 land auction
The Arizona Coyotes' future could be decided on June 27, when they will bid on a parcel of land in the hopes of finally securing a site for their new arena.
In March, the Arizona State Land Department Board of Appeals unanimously approved a $68.5 million appraisal of a 95-acre parcel of land in north Phoenix. On Thursday, the department officially posted an auction for that parcel, with the auction set for June 27.
PWHL names championship trophy after financial backer Walter family
The six teams of the recently launched Professional Women's Hockey League now know the name of the trophy they're competing for once the playoffs open next month.
It'll be the Walter Cup, named after the PWHL's primary financial backer, Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter, and his family, the league said on Thursday.

Idle Maple Leafs clinch playoff berth for eighth straight season
The Toronto Maple Leafs were idle but they punched their ticket into the postseason on the strength of Friday's results.
Penguins continue playoff push with win over Lightning
Michael Bunting snapped a tie with 5:28 left in the third period, and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 on Saturday.
Evgeni Malkin had two goals and an assist for Pittsburgh, and Bunting also had two assists. Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang also scored.
Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic made 30 saves in his eighth straight start.

Canucks not rushing Thatcher Demko back from injury
Although Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko became eligible to come off the long-term injured reserve on Saturday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports that the team will not be rushing him back.
"Demko can come off the LTIR as of now, he was eligible today," said Friedman during the Saturday Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada.
