As the offseason progresses, speculation about Sidney Crosby’s contract extension with the Pittsburgh Penguins remains a hot topic among fans. With only one season left on his current deal, some supporters are feeling unsettled and when it was announced that a deal was imminent between the two sides with terms suggesting a three-year deal was on the horizon, fans got excited. Then, it was crickets. There was no update on an extension, no deal signed, and no news that one is coming. Why?
Patrik Laine Pegged as Perfect Trade Fit for Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins are among the teams rumored to be potentially kicking tires around the Patrik Laine trade talks out of Columbus. Nothing is official and may not even be imminent, but now that Laine is ready to talk to teams about his future, the Penguins are a team that makes a lot of sense. In fact, one scribe has Pittsburgh as the perfect fit, making him a five out of five on their star rating this week.

Penguins’ Goaltending Decisions Loom Large Ahead of 2024-25 Season

The Pittsburgh Penguins still have a lot to sort out before the start of the regular season including their goalie situation. They re-signed back up goalie Alex Nedeljkovic to a two-year contract in June which was a move that few saw coming. Nedeljkovic played in 38 games last season and had a 2.97 goals-against average (GAA) and a .902 save percentage (SV%). He ended the year as the team’s starting netminder playing in the last 13 games of the season and getting the nod over first-string goalie Tristan Jarry.
