3 Keys to the Maple Leafs Beating the Bruins in the First Round
April 18, 2024 by Peter Baracchini
After a strong start and disappointing finish in their 5-2 loss to the Florida Panthers in the second last game of the regular season, the Toronto Maple Leafs finally know their opponent in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. And itโs not one that has been kind to them in the past.ย
The 2 Unknown Lightning Who Kept Matthews From Getting 70
April 18, 2024 by Jim Bay
Auston Matthews was held in check for the second straight night Wednesday in a 6-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, finishing the schedule with an amazing 69 goals in 81 games. The Toronto Maple Leafs sniper was looking to become the first NHL player to score 70 goals in more than three decades. Ryan Reaves, TJ Brodie, Pontus Holmberg, and John Tavares had the goals for the Leafs, who pulled their goalie late in the game, even down three goals as they desperately attempted to get Matthews one last chance to reach the 70-goal plateau.
Who Were the Toronto Maple Leafsโ Top Scorers This Season?
April 18, 2024 by The Old Prof
In the final game of the regular season against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Auston Matthews fell short of reaching the elusive 70-goal mark. While disappointing, this shouldnโt overshadow his incredible achievement. With the season now over and the playoffs on the way, this post will focus on the rest of the Toronto Maple Leafs roster and their scoring statistics.

Reviewing Brad Trelivingโs First Season as Maple Leafs GM
April 17, 2024 by Spencer Lazary
With only one game to go, now is a good time to look back on the Toronto Maple Leafsโ season that was. This season saw a new general manager (GM), Brad Treliving, take over and attempt to make it his own. The teamโs assistant GM, Jason Spezza, joined former GM Kyle Dubas in Pittsburgh with the Penguins. Other than that, all the changes were on the ice, and the Maple Leafs looked very different from years past โ fans seem to love it.
Maple Leafs on the Verge of Big Matthews Game 82 Mistake
April 17, 2024 by Jim Parsons
It seems ridiculous to imagine the Toronto Maple Leafs sitting Auston Matthews while heโs on the cusp of getting his notching 70th goal of the season. Wednesday night, against the Tampa Bay Lightning, he has a chance to do something few have ever done. Almost everyone wants to see him do it. That said, thereโs more at stake here than a single goal that Matthews may or may not get.
Maple Leafs News & Rumors: Matthews, Woll & Huge Decision Looming
April 17, 2024 by The Old Prof
For one period, it looked like the Toronto Maple Leafs would crush the Florida Panthers. By the second, the Panthers overwhelmed the Maple Leafs by throwing a ton of shots and four goals at goalie Joseph Woll. In the end, the Panthers won 5-2.
Maple Leafs/Bruins 1st Round Series Is Ideal Playoff Matchup
April 17, 2024 by The Old Prof
As the NHL regular season concludes, the Toronto Maple Leafsโ fortunes suddenly took a quick turn on Tuesday night. For so long, it seemed they would cross paths again with the Florida Panthers. After all, the two teams ran in second and third place for most of the regular season in the tough Atlantic Division. It would have been an interesting matchup, a reprise of last seasonโs second playoff round when the Panthers outlasted (more, in fact, out-goalied) the Maple Leafs.
Remembering Borje Salming: โKingโ of Maple Leafsโ Defensemen
April 17, 2024 by The Old Prof
Borje Salming played 16 seasons for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1973 to 1989. In his more than 1,000 regular-season games (1,099 to be exact), he scored 148 goals and 620 assists for 768 points. More remarkable, he ended his Maple Leafs career with a plus-minus of plus-155. What makes that high plus-minus so remarkable is that, during his last ten seasons with the Maple Leafs, the team was horrible, seldom close to having a winning season.
