Oilers Move On to 2nd Round After 4-3 Win Over Kings in Game 5

After a tight 1-0 win in Game 4 that brought their series lead up to 3-1, the Edmonton Oilers finished off the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 in Game 5 to advance to the second round for the third straight year. With Evan Bouchard providing the only offence in Game 4, the big boys returned in Game 5 with the usual suspects in Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman all dotting the scoresheet.
Stars Take First Series Lead in 3-2 Win vs. Golden Knights

The Dallas Stars were in an awful predicament to start these playoffs against the Vegas Golden Knights. The top seed in the Western Conference, they dropped back-to-back games at home to fall down 2-0. They were in sweep territory as they took on the Golden Knights on the road, but they countered with two victories of their own to tie the series, setting up a massive Game 5 for both sides.
Analyst Says Leafs Have “Passenger” Problem with Matthews in Lineup

Auston Matthews may or may not be able to play Game 6 for the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. His “illness” is still very much a dark cloud hanging over the team with details and specifics unclear. But, the Leafs picked up a big win in Game 5 to send the series back to Toronto and they aren’t out of it yet.

Hughes, Josi & Makar Named 2024 Norris Trophy Finalists

The NHL has announced its finalist for the James Norris Trophy, presented annually “to the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position.” The Norris Memorial Trophy was presented in 1953 by the four children of the late James Norris in memory of the former owner-president of the Detroit Red Wings. It is voted on by the members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
