After both Eastern Conference Round 2 series got underway, it was the West’s turn to strut its stuff on Tuesday night when the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars got down to business for Game 1. If the opening salvo is anything to go by, this could be a fascinating, back-and-forth thrill ride, as the Avalanche won a thriller, 4-3 in overtime.
Trocheck Lifts Rangers to 4-3 Double Overtime Win Over Hurricanes

It didn’t take long for this series to see overtime as the fans at MSG got some extra playoff hockey on Tuesday night. Stretching into double-overtime, the New York Rangers ended up winning Game 2 over the Carolina Hurricanes after their second power play tally of the game. Former Hurricane Vincent Trocheck was the man of the moment, extending his goal streak to five games and tying Cecil Dillon for the longest postseason streak in Rangers history. With the win, the Rangers remain undefeated in the playoffs after their first-round sweep of the Washington Capitals.

Oilers vs. Canucks: Playoff History by the Numbers

This is only the third time that the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks will face each other in a Stanley Cup Playoff series. Despite being in the same division since the Oilers joined the NHL in 1979, the two Western Canadian teams have only ever crossed paths in the postseason twice – and the last time was over 32 years ago. In 1986, the Oilers swept Vancouver in the best-of-five Smythe Division Semi-Final. Six years later, Edmonton beat the Canucks 4-2 in the best-of-seven Smythe Division Final. That’s it.
Kucherov, MacKinnon and McDavid Named Hart Trophy Finalists

The NHL has revealed the finalists for the Hart Memorial Trophy, awarded to the league’s most valuable player. It’s the three we have talked about nearly the entire season: Nikita Kucherov, Nathan MacKinnon and the reigning MVP, Connor McDavid.

For the first time since 2010, the NHL Draft Lottery had absolutely zero changes from the regular season standings. As a result, the San Jose Sharks hold the first overall pick for the 2024 class. In all likelihood, they will take the clear-cut best prospect, center Macklin Celebrini, with their selection.
Blackhawks Extend Lukas Reichel to 2-Year Contract

The Chicago Blackhawks extended 21-year-old German forward, Lukas Reichel, to a two-year contract extension on May 7. It has an average annual value of $1.2 million.
