Canucks Win a 3-2 Thriller vs. Oilers in Game 5, Lead Series 3-2
May 17, 2024 by Edgar Chaput
A series that had thrilled and inspired dozens of heated talking points through four matches lived up to the billing in Game 5 between the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks. Lead changes, strange penalty calls, more battles between Nikita Zadorov and Evander Kane, and a game-winning goal in the last minute when many were getting ready for overtime. By the end of the night, the Canucks skated away with a 3-2 victory and now hold a series lead by that same tally with Game 6 waiting in the wings.Â
Kreider’s Third Period Hat Trick Leads Rangers to Series Win
May 16, 2024 by Jim Bay
Chris Kreider picked up a natural hat trick in the third period to lead the New York Rangers’ comeback and defeat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-3 and secure the series victory. Kreider became the third player in Rangers history to score three goals in a single playoff period, joining Mark Messier (3rd period; Game 6 of 1994 conference finals) and Wayne Gretzky (2nd period; Game 4 of 1997 conference quarterfinals).

Ducks Should Pursue Brandon Montour Reunion in Free Agency
May 16, 2024 by Corey Abbott
The Anaheim Ducks will be searching for a right-handed defenseman when free agency begins on July 1. The Ducks should strongly consider pursuing Brandon Montour of the Florida Panthers, as he will be one of the most sought-after blueliners if he hits the open market and would be an ideal fit as the organization looks to turn the corner.Â
Devils Can’t Pass on Cole Eiserman at the 2024 NHL Draft
May 16, 2024 by Daniel Amoia
While the New Jersey Devils’ season went significantly worse than expected, there appears to be a silver lining – they have the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. This year’s draft is a deep one. Thankfully, general manager Tom Fitzgerald and co. have built quite a positive reputation, managing to maximize their draft capital to the fullest.

Flyers Can Advance Rebuild by Making These 3 Bold Moves
May 16, 2024 by Justin Giampietro
While the Philadelphia Flyers saw some growth in their young players in their 2023-24 season, finishing with a 38-33-11 record as a rebuilding club isn’t exactly a huge victory. They’re lucky that the 2024 NHL Draft is one with a lot of great players early on and without a steep talent decline from, say, the third-overall selection versus the 12th pick where they’re set to pick. Unfortunately, that won’t always be the case.
Maple Leafs’ Coaching Candidates: Craig Berube vs. Todd McLellan
May 16, 2024 by The Old Prof
As the Toronto Maple Leafs search for a new head coach following Sheldon Keefe’s departure, two prominent names have emerged as leading contenders: Craig Berube and Todd McLellan. With both coaches having solid NHL experience, the debate over who would better fit the Maple Leafs is worth discussing. Recently, that very issue was a Kyper and Bourne show segment.
