Grading the Rangers’ Trade for Alex Wennberg
March 6, 2024 by Eugene Helfrick
While the NHL trade deadline may be Mar. 8th, teams are wasting no time getting their deals done early this season. This trend continued as the New York Rangers acquired Alex Wennberg from the Seattle Kraken for a 2024 2nd-round pick and a conditional 2025 4th-round pick that could be upgraded to a 2025 3rd-rounder if the conditions hit. I’ll let the CapFriendly post below explain the condition in better detail because it’s a unique one.
Edmonton Oilers Acquire Adam Henrique From the Anaheim Ducks
March 6, 2024 by Charlie Hiller
The Edmonton Oilers have acquired forwards Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick, and a seventh-round pick from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a 2024 first-round pick and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2025. The Ducks will retain 50% of both contracts, and the Tampa Bay Lightning will retain 25% of Henrique’s contract to acquire a 2026 conditional fourth-round pick from Edmonton.
Islanders & Penguins Can Make a Jake Guentzel Trade Work
March 6, 2024 by Mike Fink
The New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins are rarely, if ever, trade partners. The two Metropolitan Division rivals go head-to-head multiple times a season and that is reason enough to believe that the two teams won’t make a deal. With this in mind, if the Penguins end up trading Jake Guentzel, they will likely move him to a Western Conference team.

Grading Panthers’ Trade for Vladimir Tarasenko
March 6, 2024 by Alex Chauvancy
The Florida Panthers are arguably the best team in the Eastern Conference, and they only got better earlier today. Looking for some more scoring help, they acquired Vladimir Tarasenko from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a couple of mid-round picks. The Senators also retained 50 percent of Tarasenko’s $5 million cap hit. Here are the full details:
Avalanche Strike Key Areas With Trades
March 6, 2024 by Stefano Rubino
While there were many rumors, connections, and possibilities of specific teams looking at certain players heading into Friday, March 8 trade deadline, only a little noise was made, which included the Colorado Avalanche. Many names were linked to backup goaltenders to help Alexandar Georgiev or a “2C” with term to assist with the top-six. Still, out of nowhere, general manager Chris MacFarland and president of hockey ops Joe Sakic saw the opportunity to make changes that could better the team and struck immediately.
Capitals Sign Rasmus Sandin to Five-Year Extension
March 6, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
With the team heading in a new direction, Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan announced on Wednesday (March 6) that they have signed defenceman Rasmus Sandin to a five-year contract extension worth $4.6 million per season. This massive extension makes perfect sense for the Capitals, who are looking to get younger and retool their roster.
