May 9, 2024 by Jim Parsons
The big news out of Toronto was that the Toronto Maple Leafs fired head coach Sheldon Keefe on Thursday. The next major event will be a presser on Friday, then either the naming of a new head coach or the explanation of what the team is looking for in a head coach, and then roster changes.

Rangers Defeat Hurricanes in Overtime to Take Commanding Series Lead
May 9, 2024 by Jim Bay
The New York Rangers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 in overtime to take a commanding 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven playoff series. After giving up a late goal in the third period, the Rangers scored just under two minutes into the extra frame when Artemi Panarin redirected a shot past Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov.
Senators Hiring Travis Green a Terrible Move Long-Term
May 9, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Ottawa Senators have officially made a decision with their coaching staff, opting to hire Travis Green as their newest head coach. After relieving D.J. Smith of his duties last season, they have been looking for a replacement ever since in hopes of turning their team around. As the Senators are in the middle of a rebuild and finished the season with yet another losing record, they believe Green can be someone that brings them from the bottom of the barrel to a contender, however, this move might be one of the worst decisions in franchise history. With Steve Staios recently taking over as general manager and hoping to turn the team around, this hiring is a step in the opposite direction.

Stars Survive 3rd Period Comeback by the Avalanche in Game 2, Win 5-3
May 10, 2024 by Matthew Zator
The Dallas Stars used their special teams to narrowly win Game 2 over the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 and tie their second-round series at one apiece. After blowing a 3-0 lead in Game 1 and losing in overtime off a goal by Miles Wood, Pete DeBoer’s squad almost had the same thing happen again. This time, they had a 4-0 advantage going into the third before the Avalanche scored three unanswered goals to bring the game to 4-3 entering the final minute. Fortunately for Stars fans, an empty net goal made sure history didn’t repeat itself.
Bruins Should Return to Goalie Rotation
May 9, 2024 by Ryan Ventura
The Boston Bruins have lived by a goalie rotation system for the last two seasons, and it worked. The duo of Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman carried the team to the best regular season in NHL history in 2022-23. They followed that up with a second-place finish in the Atlantic Division in 2023-24 that exceeded preseason expectations. They need to revert back to that system now if they want to push for a Stanley Cup.
