Oilers Looking to Dump Contract Ahead of Big Deadline Move
March 3, 2024 by Jim Parsons
The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for what they hope is a busy 2024 NHL trade deadline. General Manager Ken Holland is actively exploring options to make necessary moves and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman emphasized the Oilers’ focus on clearing cap space before executing any significant trades. In fact, for Holland to do anything of real significance, selling off an active contract is probably a must.
Maple Leafs Reportedly Still Looking for Defence Help in a Trade
March 3, 2024 by Spencer Lazary
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet and 32 Thoughts the Podcast suggested on Hockey Night in Canada that the Toronto Maple Leafs may not be done looking for right-handed defencemen. On Feb. 29, the Maple Leafs acquired Ilya Lyubushkin for the second time in his career from the Anaheim Ducks in a three-team deal that included the Carolina Hurricanes.
3 Trade Destinations for Devils’ Tyler Toffoli
March 3, 2024 by JP Gambatese
This past off-season, GM Tom Fitzgerald and the New Jersey Devils acquired stud winger Tyler Toffoli from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a third-round pick and forward Yegor Sharangovich. Fast forward about nine months, and the Devils might be looking to move Toffoli as their playoff hopes dwindle with each coming day. Toffoli, 31, leads the team in goals (26) and power-play goals (eight) and sits third in total points (44). Should the Devils pack it in for the season and decide to sell Toffoli rather than extend him, he should be an incredibly enticing option for contending teams in the market for a winger, especially at a reasonable $4.25 million cap hit that could be retained.

2 Left Wing Trade Targets for the Hurricanes
March 3, 2024 by Zach Martin
It is officially trade deadline week in the NHL as there are now five days before the deadline on Friday, March 8. Trades could ramp up over the coming days, some blockbusters while some could be depth moves. There will be a spectrum of teams: sellers, buyers, or even those who could stay quiet while making smaller moves. That being said, the Carolina Hurricanes could be seen as one of those teams who could make smaller moves before or at the trade deadline. For fans, that is a plan that they might not want to hear and one that could put doubt in their minds as the playoffs approach.
Canadiens Can be Buyers at 2024 Trade Deadline
March 2, 2024 by Blain Potvin
The Montreal Canadiens sit in the bottom 10 spots of the NHL standings, making them a draft lottery team. Because of that, General Manager (GM) Kent Hughes will be a seller for the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. Just because the team is a seller doesn’t mean he can’t add other valuable assets in a package with a veteran to sweeten a trade offer to attempt to add a piece that can be of long-term assistance.Â
Flyers Have to Give Bobby Brink a Serious Opportunity
March 3, 2024 by Justin Giampietro
22-year-old forward Bobby Brink has been a good story for the Philadelphia Flyers this season. The rookie earned his spot on the roster after an excellent training camp, beating out some hefty competition. Things were going pretty well for him all season, playing on the second and third line. After being demoted to the fourth line somewhat randomly early in January, his play started to slip, and he was sent down to the American Hockey League (AHL) in just a couple of weeks. A great season was flipped around in a flash.
