Maple Leafs & Flyers Emerging as Potential Trade Partners
December 7, 2023 by Michael DeRosa
It is not a secret that the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to improve their defense. The injury bug has hit the Maple Leafs hard this season, as Timothy Liljegren and Mark Giordano are currently sidelined. With that, John Klingberg is set for hip surgery and will miss the rest of the season. Even before these injuries, the Maple Leafs’ blue line needed a boost, but they only have heightened this need.
After missing out on Nikita Zadorov, the Maple Leafs are continuing to browse the trade market. One player who they have a confirmed interest in is Calgary Flames defenceman Chris Tanev, and he is their expected top target. However, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported in his most recent 32 Thoughts column that the Maple Leafs also have their eyes on a Philadelphia Flyers defenceman.
Bruins 3 Up, 3 Down: Marchand, Swayman, Heinen & More
December 7, 2023 by Scott Roche
Over the last couple of weeks, the Boston Bruins have certainly had their ups and downs. They went through a stretch of losing four out of five games, then bounced back and are currently on a three-game winning streak. Ah yes, the ups and downs of an 82-game grind.
As the Bruins enjoy an extended break this week in between games, let’s dive into the latest Bruins 3 Up, 3 Down.
3 Rangers’ Trade Partners in a Potential Barclay Goodrow Deal
December 7, 2023 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The New York Rangers have been the team to beat for most of the 2023-24 season up until now. The Ottawa Senators obliterated the Rangers on Tuesday (Dec. 5) in a 6-2 loss and will be looking to bounce back from what should be chalked up as a bad game. Without a doubt, the Rangers will be going all-in for a Stanley Cup this season and will make the appropriate moves to better their chances of a deep run in the playoffs, and there might be some players they opt to move to free up some cap space if they’re underperforming near the deadline.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the Rangers tried to trade Goodrow near the deadline when teams have accrued enough cap space to make it work. It’s important to note he does have a 15-team no-trade list and while that list isn’t public knowledge, some teams could use his services more than the Rangers can. Assuming he would be willing to work with the Rangers on a trade, here are three trade partners in a potential Goodrow deal.
Canadiens: Insider Names 2 New Potential Suitors for Jake Allen
December 7, 2023 by Michael DeRosa
With Sam Montembeault being recently signed to a three-year contract extension, all eyes have been on Jake Allen. The 33-year-old is standing out as the prime trade candidate out of the Montreal Canadiens‘ three goaltenders, and there has been interest. It is understandable, as the Fredericton native is a quality 1B goaltender and would provide teams needing help in the net with more stability. With that, he has been consistent throughout his 11-year career, so he has value.
Now, there’s a new development on the Allen front, as the Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch reported that Allen has two new potential suitors (from INSIDER TRADING: GM Brad Treliving never rests in search to help the Leafs’ defensive core, Ottawa Sun, 12/5/2023). Let’s discuss each of these teams now and why they could use him.
Blue Jackets’ Robinson Trade Was First of Many Difficult Decisions
December 7, 2023 by Nicholas Arnold
The Columbus Blue Jackets have made their first trade of the 2023-24 season. No, it’s not a blockbuster that we might have expected shipping out a goalie or a defenseman, as had been rumored in recent weeks. It was longtime bottom-six grinder Eric Robinson who was a casualty of circumstance and traded to the Buffalo Sabres in return for a conditional seventh-round pick.
It shouldn’t be too surprising since Robinson is in the final year of his contract and was put on waivers to be demoted to the American Hockey League (AHL) earlier this season. The 28-year-old has found his ceiling as an elite NHL-level skater, with AHL hands and finishing ability, and an above-average work ethic that could make him invaluable in the right role with the right organization.
Red Wings’ 3 Most Dangerous Shooters
December 7, 2023 by Tony Wolak
Last year, the Detroit Red Wings took a step back offensively while adjusting to Derek Lalonde’s style of play. This year has been different, though.
Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Larkin, and Lucas Raymond lead the way in scoring with 13, 10, and 8 goals, respectively. But are they the team’s most dangerous shooters? I dove into the data to find out.Through 24 games, the Red Wings have scored 91 goals. Their 3.79 goals per game rate is third-best in the NHL.
