May 8, 2024 by Jim Bay
The Florida Panthers avenged their lopsided loss in Game 1 by defeating the Boston Bruins 6-1 on Wednesday (May 6) to even their second-round playoff series at one game apiece. The Panthers looked to atone for their poor performance in Game 1 with great energy and recorded 76 hits, the most of any team in the playoffs thus far.
Canucks Perform Epic Game 1 Comeback vs. Oilers, Win 5-4
May 9, 2024 by Edgar Chaput
If fans thought Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs featured a doozy on Tuesday when the Colorado Avalanche clawed back from 3-0 down against the Dallas Stars to win 4-3, the hockey gods served up more wild stuff on Wednesday. After falling into a 4-1 hole at home to the Edmonton Oilers, the Vancouver Canucks showed they have no quit, scoring four unanswered goals to claim a 5-4 victory in Game 1 of this all-Canadian matchup.

Golden Knights’ Lack of Regular-Season Emphasis Was Costly
May 8, 2024 by Ben Fisher
Now that the dust has settled on the Vegas Golden Knights’ highly-disappointing first-round exit from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, it’s clear the club’s title defense campaign went wayside long before they locked horns with the Dallas Stars.
Suggested Dubois-For-Kuemper Trade Has Merit
May 8, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Los Angeles Kings and Washington Capitals were both eliminated in the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs and will want to make changes this offseason and return with a stronger team for the 2024-25 campaign. While both teams will be trying to bounce back in the offseason, a recently suggested trade could help both teams do just that. In a recent “Rink Fries” article, Jeff Marek mentioned that he was informed of a possible deal, swapping Pierre-Luc Dubois from the Kings for Capitals goaltender Darcy Kuemper. This deal gives the Capitals a player who can produce offense, while the Kings get an upgrade between the pipes.

Where the Devils’ Coaching Search Stands
May 8, 2024 by Josh Reinitz
Over two months have passed since New Jersey Devils general manager (GM) Tom Fitzgerald relieved Lindy Ruff of the team’s head coaching duties and elevated Travis Green to interim head coach. In that time, the Devils finished a difficult regular season a full ten points out of the playoffs, and Ruff and Green were hired to coach different NHL franchises.
Blackhawks News & Rumors: Draft Lottery, Reichel, Bedard, Worlds
May 8, 2024 by Gail Kauchak
It’s a busy time of year in the hockey world, with the second round of the NHL playoffs officially underway. But there was a bit of a distraction for non-playoff teams on Tuesday night (May 7). The Chicago Blackhawks finished 31st in the league this past season, so the draft lottery was significant. They were guaranteed at least the fourth overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NHL Entry Draft. So where did they end up?! Well, unfortunately not with the first overall pick like last season.

Bruins played terrible last night. They cannot put 2 games back to back. Swagman made a couple of mistakes and defence also made a couple of mistakes which costed us 4 goals. If they cannot get more shots on goal the series is over in 5 games. Both goalies did not look last night. Maybe last night blow out is what the Bruins needed to wake up and smell the roses. No giving up yet but they need to improve. Where is Pasta/Marchie as they are not playing up to the way we need them too.
