Why fire Ken Holland? It's the players and the coaching staff who groom the players. The players are paid enormous salaries (contractually that can't be helped) However, they need to perform in order to "earn" that type of payment. If not, then you bring in youthful players from the minor leagues and move on.
Agreed 100% Stanley. The roster is not the problem...it is filled with tremendously talented hockey players. The failure is in the coaching staff not being able to set a lineup that uses that talent, and to motivate the players to play with each other as a team. I've said it for a few seasons now - the Maple Leafs have some great hockey PLAYERS...they do not have a great hockey TEAM.
