Let’s dive into the Best of the Week…
NHL Unveils 2024 All-Star Jerseys
The NHL unveiled the 2024 All-Star jerseys for the event that will take place in Toronto from Feb. 2 to Feb. 3. These jerseys are unique and for that reason, I don’t mind them at all. They have an interest and unique look that sets them apart from years past.
Vancouver Canucks Are Winners of Five Straight
The strong season continues for the Vancouver Canucks after a 1-0 shutout win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. They remain in first place in the Pacific Division with a 29-11-3 record. They have several scoring options and carry a league-best plus-55 goal differential. This is a very good team.
Senators’ Vladimir Tarasenko Tallies 600th Career NHL Point
Ottawa Senators winger Vladimir Tarasenko tallied his 600th career NHL point in the club’s 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. He reached the mark in 710 games with 644 games played for the St. Louis Blues, 31 for the New York Rangers, and 35 games for the Senators.
Ducks and Flyers Connect on Crazy Trade
It was a crazy week for the Philadelphia Flyers with elite prospect Cutter Gauthier’s refusal to sign with the club and the trade that sent him to the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a 2025 second-round pick. I think this is a great deal for the Flyers with the ability to grab a high-potential, puck-moving defenseman and a second-round pick that could be in the top 45. In the end, the Flyers got good value and the Ducks came away with another high-end prospect.
Canucks’ Elias Pettersson Scores a Beauty in Big Apple
As mentioned above, the Canucks have had a tremendous season and center Elias Pettersson is a big part of that. In a 6-3 win over the Rangers, he stuck with the play and scored a nifty goal against Igor Shesterkin. This was part of a four-point night for the Swedish center.
