When general manager Bill Armstrong was hired in 2020, it was the dawn of a new era for Armstrong and the Arizona Coyotes. After several trades that saw Armstrong acquire an abundance of draft capital, those picks are slowly becoming players in the NHL. Since the 2021 draft, Armstrong has made a total of 42 selections, which also includes eight first-round selections. That’s where the Logan Cooley’s, Dylan Guenther’s, and Dmitri Simashev’s have come from.

After 17 seasons in the NHL, two Stanley Cups, and playing for eight different teams, Ian Cole is reaching the twilight of his hockey career. He’s won big, scored some massive goals, and has had a long career in the NHL. At 35 years old, he could retire and no one would blame him. However, after a playoff run with the Vancouver Canucks, he’s decided to take his talents to the young Utah Hockey Club, citing the potential of the team as the main reason why he signed.

Oilers’ Trade Candidates to Create Cap Space

According to Frank Seravalli, the Edmonton Oilers could be forced to trade a roster player due to the team’s salary cap struggles, and he mentioned Cody Ceci as the most likely candidate. Speaking with Bob Stauffer on Oilers Now, Seravalli noted that he believes a Ceci trade would be a “break glass in case of an emergency” move. However, there are not many other moves the Oilers could make to alleviate their cap struggles, meaning a trade could come to fruition.
