Edmonton Oilers’ 2024-25 Breakout Candidates

The Edmonton Oilers fell to the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final and only improved this offseason. The team saw two depth players depart but brought in Jeff Skinner and Viktor Arvidsson on team-friendly deals to improve the forward core. In addition to the fresh faces, head coach Kris Knoblauch will need one or two players to step up as difference-makers to ensure this season does not end with a loss.

The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers had one of the most electrifying Stanley Cup Final matchups in recent history. The Panthers were able to take down the Oilers in seven games, after almost blowing a 3-0 lead in the series. The Oilers have taken the offseason to try and bolster their roster in hopes of making another deep run and finally winning their sixth Stanley Cup in franchise history, with the additions of Jeff Skinner, Viktor Arvidsson, Josh Brown, and several new rookies who bolster their prospect pool and give them a solid future foundation to fall back on.

Oilers’ Connection to Rival Team Defender Makes Sense

The Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames have been rivals forever, and they continue to have one of the most electric rivalries in the entire NHL. Every game is fun to watch and even with the Flames struggling to find their footing in recent seasons, they are still able to put up a decent fight against the Oilers making it an entertaining show every time they meet.
Oilers Hall of Fame: Who Should be Inducted in 2025?

On Thursday (Aug. 1), Randy Gregg and Craig MacTavish were announced by the Edmonton Oilers as the latest inductees into the Oilers Hall of Fame (OHOF). They will be inducted when the Oilers host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Oct. 25 at Rogers Place, bringing the OHOF membership to 16.
