These are ten players who offer unique contributions, are difficult to replace and essential to the Devils’ quest to return to the postseason. The list begins with Curtis Lazar, coming in at #10.
Devils Can Expect More Success With Extra Attacker in 2024-25
July 18, 2024 by Daniel Amoia
The vibe inside the New Jersey Devils’ locker room was one of pure frustration and disappointment following their lackluster 2023-24 campaign. Amidst plenty of reasons for their shortcomings: poor goaltending, shoddy defense, etc…one cause fell a bit under the radar. Their inability to tie the game in extra-attacker scenarios hindered them immensely.

Devils Sign Former Wild Prospect Adam Beckman
July 17, 2024 by Donnah Campbell
In late June, the New Jersey Devils acquired left wing Adam Beckman from the Minnesota Wild, in exchange for Graeme Clarke. These two players were only separated by five picks in the 2019 NHL Draft, and both were top prospects for their respective teams. Clarke was the leading goal scorer for the Utica Comets during the 2023-24 season, but he did not score in any of the three NHL games he was called up to play in. Beckman, on the other hand, has far more experience, with 23 NHL games under his belt. Beckman could be a positive asset to the Devils, if he can earn a spot on the roster for the 2024-25 season. At 6-foot-2 and 182 pounds, he has what it takes to bring more physicality to the Devils, something that the team lacked this past season.
Devils Summer Mailbag: Power Play, Dawson Mercer, Brady Tkachuk & More
July 17, 2024 by Josh Reinitz
Here are a few general answers for Devils fans. Dawson Mercer remains unsigned, but as a restricted free agent without arbitration rights, there isn’t any fast-approaching deadline that would lead either party to act. Yes, Mercer will be in the Devils’ lineup come October in Prague; the only question is whether he will be playing for his qualifying offer, a bridge deal, or locked up long-term. The Devils are in a good place; general manager Tom Fitzgerald has checked off much of his punch list and has a team he seems happy to begin camp with. He also has enough cap space to sign his restricted free agents and still accrue space during the season, allowing him to add as needed.
Devils Should Keep an Eye on Ehlers, McGroarty, and Sturm
July 9, 2024 by Josh Reinitz
The New Jersey Devils faced an uncertain future less than ten days ago. They were entering the NHL Draft and free agency following a season of cascading disappointments after setting team highs in wins and points just a year before. General manager Tom Fitzgerald had already checked off the top two needs on his to-do list with Sheldon Keefe’s hiring and Jacob Markstrom‘s acquisition. Still, he knew those moves would only be the start if he were to remake his team into a real contender.
