Canucks’ 2024-25 Breakout Candidates
July 27, 2024 by Sartaaj Bhullar
The Vancouver Canucks are hoping to improve on their breakout 2023-24 season. The club won the Pacific Division with a 50-23-9 record and went to Game 7 against the Edmonton Oilers in the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. In order to improve on last season, the team needs other players to step up along with their core group. The club made multiple additions to their roster this season, with players hoping to play their best hockey with the team. Additionally, a young player must take the next step in their development and show they belong in the NHL full-time. Here are three breakout candidates for the 2024-25 season.
Canucks Prospect Anthony Romani Talks Draft & Excitement for Hockey Canada Camp
July 26, 2024 by Lukas Bernasiewicz
Vancouver Canucks’ recent draft pick Anthony Romani is coming off his best season in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) where the forward scored a league-leading 58 goals and second-best 111 points behind Seattle Kraken prospect David Goyette. The North Bay Battalion forward put together a season for the ages but fell to the Canucks in the sixth round due to him being an overaged player that went undrafted in 2023. Vancouver made Romani’s NHL dreams a reality by selecting him in Vegas and the 19-year-old hopes to become a big piece of the team’s future and make a good impression at the U-20 Hockey Canada camp he will take part in from July 28-Aug 3 in Windsor, Ontario.

Canucks Draft Misses Since 2015
July 23, 2024 by Matthew Zator
The Vancouver Canucks have struggled to draft and develop players for a large part of the past nine years. Yes, they have found some key players like Thatcher Demko and Nils Höglander in the second round or later, but that is pretty much it. While there have been misses in the first round, such as Olli Juolevi and Jake Virtanen, a lot of Vancouver’s current problems can be attributed to their drafting beyond their first-rounders.
