The Montreal Canadiens just finished another season in which they missed the playoffs. Although there was much individual improvement, they finished in the same spot they did in 2022-23, drafting fifth overall. This draft position was the best thing that happened to the Habs because they got to select offensive stud Ivan Demidov.
Canadiens Must Reassess Seventh-Defenseman Needs for 2024-25

Many Montreal Canadiens fans at least half-anticipated they’d trade a defenseman this offseason. While David Savard would have been ideal in a lot of ways, Johnathan Kovacevic was projected to become an unrestricted free agent in 2025 as well, making his trade to the New Jersey Devils a logical one, especially considering the prospects the Habs have coming up in the organization.

The Montreal Canadiens 2024-25 season is just a few months away, and although the fans are excited about the upcoming season, especially with the very successful 2024 Draft, they should hold their excitement for the season after 2025-26. This season, the Canadiens will be able to start putting the team together for that all-important run for the Stanley Cup.
