Great update- we are all looking forward to how the prospects pan out, the hits and misses, and hopefully a bunch of very pleasant surprises. A question- how do the Hawks maximize the use of their caproom - both in the short-run, and in a long-term view. Thanks.

Hi Al,

Thanks for reading! It’s hard not to get excited about the prospects and seeing their progression this season. Right now, GM Davidson said the plan is not to hand out long-term contracts while they are still rebuilding to avoid cap crunches early on. They will have over $40 million in cap space, so they will spend some money this offseason, but it won’t be to the tune of 8-year contracts (yet). As they are still building with the prospects, the hope is to keep flexibility so when it is time to pay them, or even acquire more talent, they have the ability to do so. So that is the long-term plan: more flexibility and it starts now by not over spending in the short term!
