Intense Jim Montgomery Beckons Bruins to Buckle Down
March 26, 2024 by Nick Abramo
An ear-splitting message from Jim Montgomery was waiting for the Boston Bruins at Monday’s practice.
The coach was pissed off, and he showed it by yelling at the players and making them skate sprints. He gave several reasons for this afterward — two straight losses at the end of tight games, the fact that he thought the Bruins didn’t come prepared for practice, and his opinion that they are far from ready for the playoffs.
Bruins Experimenting With Third Defense Pairing as Playoffs Loom
March 24, 2024 by Nick Abramo
The Boston Bruins have options when it comes to their third defensive pairing.
It’s a safe bet that the team’s top four D-men are on solid ground heading down the home stretch and into the playoffs — Charlie McAvoy and Matt Grzelcyk on the first pairing, with Hampus Lindholm and Brandon Carlo manning the second. That’s how it’s been most of the season, and it doesn’t appear that coach Jim Montgomery will veer from that setup if all four guys remain healthy.
The experiment did not work out. Carlo needs to improve on the way he handles the puck and check. It seems like he does not want to mix it up in tne corners to get the puck. In the game against TB there was 3-4 times a possible goal may have been scored but like normal passvthebpuck. I think wd all need Marchie to score his 400th and then maybe he will get back to playing better and stop giving the puck away.
