Lohrei Steps Up Amid Bruins’ Injury Struggles
February 23, 2024 by Brandon Share-Cohen
Replacing top-four defenders in an NHL lineup is no easy feat. For the Boston Bruins, the task to simultaneously replace both Hampus Lindholm and Matt Grzelcyk became a reality as Lindholm was deemed week-to-week after suffering an injury against the Dallas Stars on Monday. While already shorthanded, the Bruins then lost Grzelcyk to injury just minutes into the team’s game against the Oilers just two days later. Amid adversity, Mason Lohrei stepped up and proved why the team is so high on him and his potential.
Bruins End Frustrating Home Stand with Shootout Win Over Stars
February 19, 2024 by Scott Roche
It’s just past mid-February, but if there was ever a must-win game for the Boston Bruins, it was on Monday afternoon (Feb. 19) at the TD Garden against the Dallas Stars. Never mind the fact that the visitors were a hurting team missing key players, but the Black and Gold were looking to end their frustrating homestand on a winning note after going 1-3-2 in their first six games.
3 Defensemen the Bruins Should Target at the Trade Deadline
February 23, 2024 by Hannah Garfield
The Boston Bruins have been in a bit of a slump the past week after four losses in a row and registering only three wins in February so far. The bad news has continued for the team with the announcement of defenseman Hampus Lindholm being week to week with a lower-body injury after an awkward collision during their game on Feb. 19 against the Dallas Stars.
Losing Lindholm is a tough break for any already struggling Bruins team. He’s second in the team in average time on ice and has 19 points in 56 games. While he hasn’t been at the same level he was last season, he has still been an important part of the roster in 2023-24, and his absence leaves a hole on the blue line.Â
Bruins News & Rumors: Grzelcyk, Trade Target, Edwards & More
February 22, 2024 by Scott Roche
In the latest edition of Boston Bruins News & Rumors, as if one injured defenseman wasn’t bad enough, another one goes down with an injury in the first game of their four-game Western Canada road trip Wednesday night (Feb. 21). Game two will be Wednesday night (Feb. 22) with a game against a potential trade target that would help the Black and Gold’s defense and Boston play-by-play announcer Jack Edwards opens up about his health.
Bruins need to get playing like earlier in the season and stop playing defensive when they get a lead. Most of the team are making hits and trying to get the puck. Some defence need to improve and stop making stupid mistakes as they are pros not amateurs. Last night one defence made several mistakes but he is young and will make mistakes but not like he did last night. Power play needs to get better and maybe it's time to try different players and stop relying on the top two as they are only giving 80%.
What is up with the Bruins. Another lead let go and yes I blame Marchie as he give the puck away at the blue line. Another stupid penalty for too many men on the ice. We are having problems scoring but our goalies do not mind getting an assist on a goal for the other team. Only 3 wins in last 10 games and if not careful we could slip to a wildcard position within 2 weeks.
