Grading the Canucks’ Trade for Nikita Zadorov
December 1, 2023 by Michael DeRosa
At the beginning of last month, defenceman Nikita Zadorov requested a trade from the Calgary Flames. From there, he would be the talk of the town in the rumor mill, and teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars, and New York Islanders all expressed interest in him. However, in the end, the Vancouver Canucks won the sweepstakes.
Overall, this is a pretty notable move, and one of the NHL’s top trade targets is officially off the board because of it. Let’s now give out grades for each of the clubs involved in this transaction now.
Canucks’ 3 Up, 3 Down: Zadorov, Hughes, Boeser, Myers & More
December 1, 2023 by Matthew Zator
Even though the Vancouver Canucks have been a .500 hockey team over the last 10 games, they still sit only three points back of the Vegas Golden Knights for the top spot in the NHL standings. That’s pretty good considering their brutal schedule in November that had them play 15 games in 30 nights.
In the latest edition of Canucks’ 3 Up, 3 Down, we’ll look at some trades, more from the Mighty Quinn, Brock Boeser‘s rise to the top of the NHL, and much more. Let’s dive in.
Canucks’ Zadorov Trade Addresses Defence for Minimal Cost
December 1, 2023 by Alex Wauthy
The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenceman Nikita Zadorov from the Calgary Flames for a 2024 fifth-round pick and a 2026 third-round selection. The move came days after the organization shipped out Anthony Beauvillier for much-needed cap space, and just one day after general manager Patrik Allvin said the team could use another defenceman.
The acquisition cost may seem low to some, especially given that the Flames are trading within the Pacific Division. However, this sly addition by Allvin immediately bolsters the Canucks’ blue line.
