There are a handful of former Flames players whose arrival in Calgary will forever incite boos. A symphony of boos greeted Noah Hanifin on his return to Calgary as a member of the Golden Knights, bringing back memories of Flames fans feverishly tormenting Johnny Gaudreau in his first game back after absconding for Columbus.

Calgary Flames prospect Dustin Wolf had high expectations placed on his shoulders after being named goaltender of the year in back-to-back American Hockey League (AHL) seasons, along with the AHL’s MVP award in 2022-23. But since the Flames already have goaltenders Jacob Markstrom and Dan Vladar under contract, Wolf started the 2023-24 season in the AHL with the Calgary Wranglers.

Don’t look now, but the 2023-24 NHL season is nearing its end. As they all seem to do, this season has flown by, with the Calgary Flames having just 17 games remaining on its schedule. Through their first 65 games, they have a 31-29-5 record.
