Will Avalanche Sign Sean Behrens After His National Championship Win?
Could the highly-touted defensemen see NHL games next year?
On Saturday, April 13th, 2024, two Colorado-based hockey teams played that night: the Colorado Avalanche and Denver University. One team that night went to bed much happier than the night before. MUCH happier.
While the Avalanche were getting piled down by the Winnipeg Jets 7-0, whom they are now scheduled to face in the first round of the 2024 NHL Playoffs, the Denver Pioneers and 2021 second-round pick defencemen Sean Behrens were making NCAA Hockey history. After shutting out the heavily favored Boston College Eagles, the Pioneers made history as the first school to win ten National Championships.
In 44 games, he scored four goals and 27 assists for 31 points, setting a career-high in points during his time with the Pioneers. He also finished the season with a career-high 70 blocks, 15 more than in his previous season.
