Red Wings’ Alex DeBrincat Named 2024 NHL All-Star

With the 2023-24 NHL season hitting its halfway point soon, it means that the All-Star Game is just around the corner. Tonight (Jan.4), the first 32 players for the game are being announced, starting with the Eastern Conference players. For the Detroit Red Wings, there were a couple of players who could have gotten the nod to represent the winged wheel, but the team’s lone representative as of now is Alex DeBrincat.

Recent Poll Results
In our latest poll, we asked how you would solve the goaltending problems the Red Wings have had this season. 38% of voters said that they would let the three goalies that are currently on the roster, while another 38 % said that they would look to trade for a goalie. Bringing up the rear was at 23% of voters wanting to wait for Sebastian Cossa or Trey Augustine to develop and take over the reins in the crease for the Red Wings.
Why Are the Red Wings Allowing So Many Goals?

That was a rough month of December for the Detroit Red Wings. After a strong start to the season, the Red Wings closed out the calendar year with 10 losses in 15 games – not ideal for a playoff push. They’ve also given up a lot of goals as of late – 4.27 per game in December, to be exact. That’s the most in the NHL during that span. The most. More than the bottom-feeding San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Columbus Blue Jackets. What’s going on with the Red Wings? Why are they giving up so many goals? I dove into the numbers and analyzed their recent play to find out.
