The NHL outdoor games in 2024 are behind us, and we now know what’s to come in 2025 in Columbus and Chicago. One city gets to experience hockey outdoors for the first time while another gets to run it back. While looking ahead, it got us thinking about what one of these games could look like in the Sunshine State, specifically on the Gulf Coast.
Lightning’s Up & Down Play Since the All-Star Break

Heading into the All-Star Break, things looked good for the Tampa Bay Lightning. They had won three straight games (all by a score of 6-3), were 8-1 in their last nine, and were steadily climbing in the Atlantic Division standings. Then, they had to take a week and a half off, which is the last thing a team on a heater wants. Sure enough, they came out of the gate with back-to-back losses. The team has gone 3-4 since returning to action, and it has been a mixed bag of good and bad from those performances. Here’s a look at what has gone right and what could use some work for the Lightning.
3 Key Players For Lightning to Secure a Playoff Berth

It goes without saying that the Tampa Bay Lightning will need to see continued production from their key players in order to qualify and then make a deep run in the 2024 NHL Playoffs. Even after Saturday night’s (Feb. 17) 9-2 loss to the Florida Panthers, there is no reason to worry that the core of the Lightning lineup will still be a factor in determining if they can win a playoff spot. Instead, they will need solid contributors from outside of the core group if they intend to do so.
Flames: 3 Trade Destinations for Noah Hanifin

The decision has finally been made. After contemplating for months, defenceman Noah Hanifin has chosen to test the market rather than sign an extension with the Calgary Flames. With the decision, it means that Hanifin’s days with the Flames are numbered, as he will be dealt ahead of the March 8th trade deadline.
