Boston Bruins Must-Watch Games in 2023-24
August 24, 2023 by Ryan Gagne
Significant changes occurred in Boston this past summer, with former captain Bergeron retiring after 19 seasons and his longtime teammate David Krejci also hanging up his skates. Moreover, the Bruins had little to no cap space to keep the 2022-23 team together, so players like Dmitri Orlov, Tyler Bertuzzi, Taylor Hall, and Nick Foligno are gone.
Interestingly, fan favorite Milan Lucic returns to town, with James van Riemsdyk, Kevin Shattenkirk, and Morgan Geekie joining the ranks. Realistically, the Bruins will not win games at the same rate they did in 2022-23, but it is the franchise’s centennial season, and with plenty of special events planned to honor 100 years of hockey, there will be a handful of key games to watch.
3 Bruins Depth Players to Watch in 2023-24
August 23, 2023 by Scott Roche
There was some roster turnover for the Boston Bruins this offseason. The roster on Opening Night against the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 11 at the TD Garden is going to look a lot different than the one that skated off the ice on April 30 following the first-round Stanley Cup Playoff elimination at the hands of the Florida Panthers.
General manager (GM) Don Sweeney signed a lot of what could be considered depth pieces on short deals. They also have some depth pieces that could be brought up from the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League (AHL) or just keep some depth pieces in the lineup from last season. Regardless of how second-year coach Jim Montgomery goes with his roster, here are three players to keep an eye on in the bottom six in 2023-24.
Bruins’ Geekie Primed for Big Season With Bigger Role in Boston
August 22, 2023 by Scott Roche
For the Bruins, Zacha was better than they had hoped for as he ended up having a career year in goals (21), assists (36), and points (57). He was able to move into the middle when David Krejci missed time and didn’t miss a beat. He was given a four-year contract extension in January and now is a big piece of the 2023-24 Bruins.
Zacha’s flexibility was big for first-year coach Jim Montgomery and the Black and Gold hope that they are getting a similar player in Morgan Geekie, who signed as a free agent after two seasons with the Seattle Kraken and is still looking for his breakout career in his young NHL career so far.
