The Arizona Coyotes don’t have one of those fierce rivalries that are known league-wide. Perhaps the lack of recent playoff appearances plays a factor in that. Maybe it’s the fact that the nearest NHL team to them is four and a half hours away. So, who is the biggest rival to the Coyotes? There are definitely some candidates.

Throughout the past couple of drafts, Arizona Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong has added plenty of talent across all positions. With Dylan Guenther and Logan Cooley looking like they’ll play in the NHL this season, the Coyotes are pivoting to a new group of prospects. It’s been easy for Armstrong to add skilled players due to the sheer amount of draft picks they’ve piled up, but that doesn’t mean every player will be a hit. With that said, here are three prospects to keep an eye on in 2023-24.
Coyotes Can Help AHL Roster Via Free Agency

With many big names off the free agent market, Arizona still has room for two more contracts. These will likely have to be AHL deals as the main roster looks close to being set and NHL-qualified players could be signed to get the occasional call-up. The Roadrunners training camp has not yet started, and the roster for the 2023-24 season is not set. Two former NHL players who are out there that could help Tucson this season would come cheap.
Coyotes Have Some Hope After Busy Offseason

The 2023-24 version of the Arizona Coyotes roster is going to look completely different from last season. They have added parts to the roster that should increase both their wins and point totals. The organization also re-signed head coach Andre Tourigny to a new three-year contract that will keep him behind the Coyotes bench through the 2026-27 season. But will the changes be enough for a playoff spot?
