NHL Rumors: Kings, Hurricanes, Flames, Rangers, Devils, Oilers
In today’s NHL rumors rundown, there is a ton of goalie news coming out of an article by Pierre LeBrun for The Athletic. Among the updates include news out of Los Angeles and Carolina, where Joonas Korpisalo, Frederik Andersen, and Antti Raanta talk is front and center. In Calgary, Elias Lindholm is open to staying, but what is it he wants before he signs a new contract? There are coaching hires worth mentioning, and do the Oilers have a trade in the works for Kailer Yamamoto?
Canadiens News and Rumors: Dubois, Draft, Monahan and More
In this edition of the Montreal Canadiens News and Rumors, general manager (GM) Kent Hughes was hard at work inking Sean Monahan. He is also busy negotiating extensions on some younger players and huddling with his scouting staff.
Insider Believes Oilers Have Trade In Pocket for Kailer Yamamoto
With the NHL buyout window now open, discussions have arisen in Edmonton regarding potential players who may draw the attention of the general manager for a buyout. This option would allow the team to alleviate salary cap constraints in cases where a trade has not materialized or is unlikely. Amongst the players likely being considered, forward Kailer Yamamoto stands at the forefront of these deliberations.
Flames: 3 Potential Trade Destinations for Noah Hanifin
Craig Conroy’s first mission as the Calgary Flames’ new general manager was to get a good feel for the team’s seven 2024 unrestricted free agents (UFA). Noah Hanifin is one of the most important but is reportedly more likely to get traded than re-sign in Calgary.
According to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, “All signs point to defenseman Noah Hanifin not wanting to extend with the Flames, so that situation is likely headed for a trade. He’s got one year left on his deal at a $4.95 million AAV” (from “LeBrun: Erik Karlsson ‘open-minded’ on trade destinations, plus latest rumblings on Meier, Barbashev, Hellebuyck, more”, The Athletic, June 16, 2023). He could be an appealing option for many teams trying to bolster their blue line for one season or many if they decide to extend him. This 26-year-old is a strong skater and should garner a nice return. Here’s a look at the teams that might have the most interest in Hanifin.
