Hurricanes Should Have Their Sights Set on Canucks’ Kuzmenko
December 11, 2023 by Tommy Bennett
Head coach Rod Brind’Amour did not hold back when speaking up about their play, as evidenced by his mid-game interview against the Edmonton Oilers. Also, the players held a players-only meeting after their game against the Vancouver Canucks. It is a long 82-game season and it is good that the kinks in the hose are happening now rather than later. However, the players and the coaches know this team can be better and should be better.
If the players-only meeting doesn’t spurn instant results, general manager Don Waddell needs to make a move. One player that is being called about is Canucks’ Andrei Kuzmenko. He is an intriguing player and could bring upside to the Hurricanes.
Andrei Svechnikov’s MRI Results Will Give the Hurricanes Answers
December 12, 2023 by Collin Madewell
Carolina Hurricanes fans looking for good news amid the team’s four-game losing streak aren’t in luck. During a short press scrum after practice in Ottawa this afternoon (Dec. 11), Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour gave an update on star right winger Andrei Svechnikov, who sat out for the team’s 4-3 loss at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.
Brind’Amour did not give a timeline for the results to be made public if the player and team decide to do so. He also did not provide a timeline for another update on Svechnikov. Yet, an unfavorable update could spell disaster for the rest of the Hurricanes’ already inconsistent season.
DeAngelo Growing Stale on Hurricanes’ Trade Block
December 12, 2023 by Collin Madewell
According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo has been on the trade block for over a month. He hasn’t been a member of Carolina’s lineup since Nov. 18, when the team defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2. If you’re reading the tea leaves, it looks like DeAngelo’s time as a Hurricane is coming to an end.
Nothing has been predictable during DeAngelo’s two stints as a Hurricane. Now that he’s been on the auction block for a while, I think it would be a good idea to refresh our memories on how we got into this situation in the first place. Why do the Hurricanes have a power play specialist with a bargain contract bobbing in the water with no bites?
How the Hurricanes Can Weather Andrei Svechnikov’s Injury
December 13, 2023 by Tommy Bennett
There is no timetable for the return of goaltender Frederik Andersen, who is dealing with a blood-clotting issue. When healthy, he is a Vezina Trophy-caliber goaltender and was the backbone of the crease in 2022-23. The Hurricanes are feeling his absence as they have the worst team save percentage in the league.
There’s also forward Andrei Svechnikov, who has been plagued by the injury bug. The Hurricanes were without him to finish last season, and his timeline for a return is still undetermined. The Hurricanes will have to weather the storm without him, and if they cannot, they’ll need to make a move.
