Coyotes Top Fantasy Hockey Sleepers for 2023-24
October 13, 2023 by Chase Beardsley
With the NHL season now officially underway, that means many NHL fantasy leagues are also starting up. Many have picked up big-name players on the Arizona Coyotes, like Clayton Keller, who was ranked 60th overall in ESPN’s fantasy top 300, or even Juuso Valimaki, who cracked the top 150 at number 142.
However, many players didn’t get picked up that could be really good pickups before the Coyotes begin their season on Oct. 11. Here are some names that might be sleepers in your league.
Coyotes’ Cooley Has Real Shot at Calder Trophy
October 13, 2023 by Cooper Krigbaum
When it was announced Arizona Coyotes’ prospect Logan Cooley would be heading back to Bob Motzko’s Minnesota for his second collegiate season, most weren’t surprised. This decision would suddenly eliminate him from the Calder Trophy race in 2023-24, which has loads of skill, all racing for the Rookie of the Year honors.
However, after much reflecting, it became clear where Cooley wanted to play. It became clear where general manager (GM) Bill Armstrong wanted him to play. It was in Arizona. It was in a Kachina.
Coyotes a Team to Watch in the 2023-24 Season
October 13, 2023 by Richard Jelinek
For the Arizona Coyotes, this season is a new opportunity to grow from last season. Reinforcements were brought in during the offseason to make them a playoff team and a potential contender in the near future. Will they do the unthinkable and grab a playoff berth in 2023-24?
Arizona finished the preseason with a 4-5 record for 8 points, outscoring the opposition 30-28. They went 3-1 at home, which provides some optimism as playing at Mullett Arena suits their style of play.
Coyotes Have Goaltending Issue to Resolve
October 11, 2023 by Haynes Evans
The Arizona Coyotes have a looming issue in front of them just days ahead of their 2023-24 season opener. Former third-string goaltender and expected American Hockey League (AHL) starter Ivan Prosvetov was claimed off waivers by the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, Oct. 10th. This came as no shocker to Coyotes management, who knew of the possibility after the team placed him on waivers to send him down to the AHL.
With the Tucson Roadrunners kicking off their 2023-24 season this upcoming Friday, along with the Coyotes, general manager Bill Armstrong is sorting through his options. Offseason signing Matthew Villalta will assume the starting role for the Roadrunners, but who his backup is remains to be determined. With a plethora of free agent options, waiver claims, and some goaltending depth of their own, we at The Hockey Writers take a look at who the Coyotes could bring in after the departure of Prosvetov.
