Today in Hockey History: March 1
We are into March, which usually means the playoff push intensifies across the National Hockey League, leading to many big moments over the years. The greatest player to ever lace up a pair of skates took ownership of one of his many unbreakable records on this date. Also, March 1 has been a unique date in Philadelphia’s hockey history. It’s time for our daily trip back in time to relive the best memories this date has had to offer.
Top 10 NHL Lines
The Three Musketeers. David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash. The Marx Brothers. History is filled with trios that are simply great together. And that’s definitely true in the NHL.
Eric Lindros Trade Revisited

Today in Hockey History: Feb. 29
It’s leap day! Feb. 29 only comes every four years, so there’s not a whole lot of NHL history that has happened on this date. Having said that, some significant events have occurred, including a huge milestone for Mr. Hockey, NHL debuts for a couple of future Hall-of-Famers, and the first game for the Great One donning the Blue Note. The number 1,000 also makes an appearance for a couple of legends in Boston and Detroit. So, with that said, let’s fire up the THW time machine and take a look back at what this rare date has given us over the years!
NHL Awards History: Oldest & Youngest Winners
We updated this list from the THW Archives of the oldest and youngest winners in NHL history, originally published Jan. 19, 2015. And, before you say anything, I didn’t do the math to figure out who was older or younger by months if there was a tie, except for the Calder Trophy’s youngest winner.
Ottawa Senators’ All-Time Team
In the 31 years of Ottawa Senators hockey, many fantastic players have taken the ice for the club. You could easily put all of the best players together and create an uber team that would look great on paper.
