Panthers’ Tobias Bjornfot Should Get a Chance to Prove Himself
March 22, 2024 by Joey Ganzi
The Cats have had to go through some drastic changes defensively over the past couple of weeks. First off, Aaron Ebkald left the game against the Calgary Flames with a knee injury and was given a week-to-week timetable. Furthermore, defenseman Dmitry Kulikov was given a two-game suspension after elbowing Tampa Bay Lightning forward Conor Sheary in the head on March 16.
At the trade deadline, the Panthers claimed Tobias Bjornfot off of waivers from the Vegas Golden Knights. With the losses on the defensive side of the puck, he has a chance to showcase his abilities and earn himself a spot on the Panthers roster going into the end of the regular season.
Panthers Should Rest Up Injured Players Until the Playoffs
March 19, 2024 by Joey Ganzi
The Florida Panthers are one of the strongest teams in the league, ranked second in the Atlantic Division behind the Boston Bruins with a record of 45-19-4 and 94 points.
However, they were shut out by the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night, 4-0, and one major factor in that loss was their lack of depth. They were missing two forwards, Sam Bennett and Evan Rodrigues, while defenseman Aaron Ekblad was out with an injury. Regardless of how severe those ailments are, it’d be smart to rest them until the postseason.
Sam Reinhart Close to Joining Exclusive Special Teams Club
March 14, 2024 by Nick Haydon
It is no secret that Florida Panthers’ Sam Reinhart is having a career season. His 46 goals are second in the league behind only Auston Matthews (54). It is not simply how many goals he is scoring but how he is scoring that makes his season impressive. During the Panthers’ game against the Detroit Red Wings on March 2, ESPN announcer Sean McDonough shared that Reinhart currently leads the NHL in power-play (26) and short-handed (5) goals, and, should he finish the season in that position, he would be the fourth player in NHL history to accomplish that feat. I waited for McDonough to share the other three names, but, alas, he never did.
