Hurricanes’ Patience with Kochetkov is the Perfect Move
August 25, 2023 by Tommy Bennett
For the first time since Cam Ward was tending the crease, the Carolina Hurricanes’ goaltending position is stable. The start of Rod Brind’Amour’s stint behind the bench saw a goaltending carousel occur, but the position has been locked down for the last two seasons. It is the perfect blend of veterans, with Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta leading the way. However, the third goalie, Pyotr Kochetkov, has had flashes of brilliance and has stepped into the crease due to injuries. His future is bright, and being patient with him is the right move.
Hurricanes’ Svechnikov is Team’s X-Factor in 2023-24
August 24, 2023 by Tommy Bennett
As the Carolina Hurricanes begin the 2023-24 season, there will be eyes on certain players. New faces are joining the team, so questions will be asked before puck drops. Will Martin Necas build upon his career season? Is this the year that Seth Jarvis has a breakout season? Can Frederik Andersen carry his strong postseason play into the new season? These are just a few questions, but the key X-factor for the Hurricanes will be a player returning from injury.
Hurricanes’ Teravainen Could Bounce Back in Big Way
August 24, 2023 by Mack Gordon
Carolina Hurricanes winger Teuvo Teravainen has been a consistent scoring threat within the team’s top six for the better part of the last six seasons. However, this past season was one to forget for the 28-year-old left winger. Missing 14 games in the regular season due to an upper-body injury, he was never able to gain much momentum offensively finishing with 37 points (12 goals, 25 assists) in 68 games played. More adversity struck when he was sidelined for the majority of the Hurricanes’ playoff run after suffering a broken hand early in the first-round series against the New York Islanders.
