Maple Leafs Recap: Matthews’ Milestone & Samsonov’s Shutout
March 31, 2024 by The Old Prof
Last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs showed their dominance for the second game in a row by skating to a commanding 3-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center. Auston Matthews inscribed his name into NHL history with his 60th goal of the season, while captain John Tavares celebrated his 1,100th NHL game by scoring the game’s first goal. Nick Robertson scored the third goal for the team.Â
4 Senators Who Won’t Be Back Next Season
March 31, 2024 by Dayton Reimer
The Ottawa Senators didn’t make a lot of changes during the trade deadline, but don’t expect that to continue into the offseason. General manager Steve Staios was very active leading up to the deadline, and although he only made one significant move, he reportedly learned quite a bit about what other managers thought about his team. That gave him and his team a much clearer picture of where they want to go and how they are going to get there.
Rangers’ Panarin & Trocheck Pursuing Playoff Redemption in 2024
March 31, 2024 by Sam Henes
The New York Rangers’ journey last season ended in disappointment, culminating in a grueling seven-game defeat to the New Jersey Devils. This was a particularly bitter pill to swallow for a team once heralded as a Stanley Cup contender, especially after the high-profile acquisitions of Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko. Despite Kane and Tarasenko’s commendable efforts, contributing six and four points respectively, the spotlight turned to Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck.

Canucks Need to Solve a Few Issues Before 2024 Playoffs
March 31, 2024 by Matthew Zator
Since the All-Star Break, the Vancouver Canucks have struggled to gain any sort of traction and are backing into the playoffs rather than chugging in full steam ahead. They are 12-9-3 since the festivities ended in Vegas on Feb. 4, and while that’s a decent record, it’s the other stats that are somewhat concerning. The team that has the best goal differential in the league at plus-57 is at a minus-2 over the last 24 games, and they have been wildly inconsistent with their offence and special teams.
Oilers’ First-Round Playoff Series Ranked Most Ideal to Least
March 30, 2024 by Rupert McDonald
The Edmonton Oilers haven’t clinched a playoff spot just yet, but it is more than safe to assume they will be in the dance for the fifth straight season. While it isn’t shocking that they are back in based on preseason expectations, their 2-9-1 start to the year had many beginning to doubt whether it was possible. They have turned things around in a big way since and currently have a 44-23-4 record through 71 games.
Multiple Lightning Players Reach Milestones in Win Over Islanders
March 31, 2024 by Harrison Smajovits
The Tampa Bay Lightning continued their post-trade deadline roll by defeating the New York Islanders 4-1. While the team as a whole is on a tear, the win is also highlighted by multiple individual milestones.
