3 Maple Leafs’ Trade Targets From Senators-Canadiens Game
January 28, 2024 by Andrew Forbes
It’s not the first time this season — and it won’t be the last — that representatives from teams take in other games around the league as scouting ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline heats up.
After a team rep was at the game between the Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers on January 20, the Toronto Maple Leafs had two representatives at the game between the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators on January 23 in Montreal. Now, with the Maple Leafs, there have been rumblings that they could be buyers at the deadline. At the same time, there have been reports going the other way. Either way, they are looking around the league at options and with that in mind, here are three possible targets they could have from the Canadiens-Senators game.

Coyotes Fans Deserve Transparency Amid Arena Search
January 27, 2024 by Cooper Krigbaum
Twenty-eight years ago, when the Arizona Coyotes were established in the Grand Canyon state, it was the dawn of a new era. The Kachina was born, and all-time greats such as Shane Doan, Jeremy Roenick, and Teppo Numminen rose up and created hockey as we know it in Arizona. Not too long ago, PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan wrote, “Coyotes president and CEO Xavier Gutierrez told PHNX Sports on Tuesday that the team expects to announce its chosen arena site by the end of the calendar year, or shortly thereafter.”
Now that we are nearly a month into 2024 and closing in on the All-Star Break, the fans want updates, which have been scarce. Rarely, if ever, owner Alex Meruelo speaks to the public or media, leaving more questions than answers. While president and CEO Xavier Gutierrez does most of the talking, it’s been a while since fans have heard from him. It’s mostly outside noise spreading false and inaccurate reports. So, let’s look at the timeline of the Coyotes’ recent arena woes and how the lack of transparency gives fans less hope of finding a permanent home in the Valley.
Rangers C Filip Chytil Ruled Out for Season
January 28, 2024 by Tom Castro
Filip Chytil’s long-term future in the NHL is in question. That’s thrown the New York Rangers‘ short-term prospects into doubt, as well. The Rangers announced Jan. 28 that Chytil, who has not played since suffering a suspected concussion Nov. 2 and who experienced an alarming setback in his recovery two days before, is done for the 2023-24 season.
“Following a thorough evaluation of Filip Chytil after his recent setback from an upper-body injury, it has been confirmed that he is out for the remainder of the season,” the club said in a statement. “The organization’s top priority throughout this process has been Filip’s health and we will continue to fully support him in his recovery with an aim to return for the 2024-25 season.”
