Oilers News & Rumors: Nugent-Hopkins, Goalies & the Trade Deadline
February 23, 2024 by Jim Parsons
In an Edmonton Oilers news and rumors update, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will slot back into the lineup as the team takes on the Minnesota Wild on Friday. He was out due to illness and the roster will be slightly reshuffled to make room for his return. Meanwhile, there are questions about the recent play of goaltender Stuart Skinner and what that means for the NHL Trade Deadline. And, speaking of the deadline, have the Oilers hit a potential snag when it comes to possibly landing Jake Guentzel out of Pittsburgh?
3 Defensemen the Bruins Should Target at the Trade Deadline
February 23, 2024 by Hannah Garfield
The Boston Bruins have been in a bit of a slump the past week after four losses in a row and registering only three wins in February so far. The bad news has continued for the team with the announcement of defenseman Hampus Lindholm being week to week with a lower-body injury after an awkward collision during their game on Feb. 19 against the Dallas Stars.
Canadiens Give White Another Chance but Not as Reclamation Project
February 23, 2024 by Ryan Szporer
New Montreal Canadiens forward Colin White made his debut about as successful as you can reasonably expect, at least on a personal level. Facing his former team, White ended the night plus-1 with a shot on goal as the Habs fell 4-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Feb. 22.

What Can We Learn From the Maple Leafs’ Defense Plus/Minus?
February 23, 2024 by The Old Prof
It appears the most maligned statistic in the NHL is plus/minus. Some claim it is the worst and most useless stat in the sport. While it does have its drawbacks basically, every statistic does. Without digging deeply into analytics, a glance at plus/minus stats does tell some stories, especially over a longer period.
Golden Knights Could Have Active Deadline After Stone’s Injury
February 23, 2024 by Ben Fisher
Depending on how you choose to view the reported lacerated spleen Mark Stone suffered on Tuesday against the Nashville Predators, it is either a frustrating blow for the suddenly struggling Vegas Golden Knights and their captain or the first step in another cap circumvention from an organization that seems to have a history of this sort of thing.
Is Ilya Sorokin to Blame for the Islanders’ Struggles?
February 23, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
The 2023-24 New York Islanders have had issues across their roster. From multiple losing streaks to the league-leading 14 overtime/shootout losses, there is a lot to be upset about. In net, the team ranks in the bottom 10 in goals against per game with 3.33, contrary to last season’s top-five finish. However, are these struggles the fault of their goaltending or is it a larger issue?
