Blue Jackets’ Results Show Critical Leadership Element Missing
November 30, 2023 by Mark Scheig
The Columbus Blue Jackets were not ahead in the third period on Wednesday night against the Montreal Canadiens. However they were tied for most of it. At a minimum, teams find ways to get to overtime even when they don’t have their A-game or energy throughout.
Just like most other nights this season, the Blue Jackets were not able to get to overtime. Instead, a late goal by Joel Armia with just 2:57 left in the game helped the Canadiens to a 4-2 win. For the Blue Jackets, Wednesday night was not only a winnable game, it was a game they should have won. They held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 but each time were unable to expand their lead to multiple goals.
Anthony Beauvillier Has Opportunity to Prove Blackhawks Right
November 30, 2023 by Brooke LoFurno
The Chicago Blackhawks have been through many roster changes in the past few years, but within the past week, they have gone through two major transitions. Taylor Hall is out for the season with an ACL injury, and Corey Perry’s contract was terminated due to “workplace misconduct.”
Chicago lost two big scorers, and many questioned how they would address it. General manager Kyle Davidson stated he wasn’t looking to add to the team via trade. But it turns out he had something up his sleeve as he traded a conditional 2024 fifth-round draft pick to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forward Anthony Beauvillier four days later on Nov. 29. A few things stand out about the newest Blackhawk.
Bruins News & Rumors: Lineup Changes, Marchand & Heinen
November 30, 2023 by Michael DeRosa
In this latest edition of Boston Bruins News & Rumors, the Bruins sported notable lineup changes during their last practice. In other news, captain Brad Marchand has been struggling as of late and is looking to heat back up. Lastly, while the Bruins have been running into trouble, depth signing Danton Heinen has been playing his best hockey of the season. Let’s discuss all of this in today’s (Nov. 30) Bruins News & Rumor column.
Winnipeg Jets Re-Acquiring Patrik Laine is not the Right Move
November 30, 2023 by Hunter Tycholis
In his first few seasons, Patrick Laine was an absolute stud who could score from the perimeter, beating a goaltender cleanly when the average player would have no business being able to do that. His ability to score goals and exuberant personality launched him into superstardom. Unfortunately, that’s not how things ended for Laine and the Winnipeg Jets.
Laine had the pre-draft hype, the eye-popping shot and great production in his draft year, playing against men in the Finnish Elite League and winning the 2016 World Junior Championship. Unfortunately Laine has since been traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets where he has been struggling and was recently benched. The first thing that comes to mind for many Jets fans seeing him get benched is to speculate about his future and the nostalgia of the good times had with Laine in a Jets sweater. However, the right move is not to re-acquire him.

November 30, 2023 by The Old Prof
In this edition of Toronto Maple Leafs News & Rumors, I’ll share conversations from analysts about whether it’s time for the team to increase goalie Joseph Woll’s time in the net – especially in critical situations. Second, I’ll talk about the surprising impact of the team’s third line, which began with the recall of Nick Robertson. Finally, I’ll share the bad news that Mark Giordano will not be available for tonight’s game against the Seattle Kraken.
Red Wings Report Cards: Grading the First Quarter of the Season
November 30, 2023 by Jordan Orth
With the Detroit Red Wings being 20 games into their 2023-24 regular season, they have almost reached the quarter mark. So far, the Red Wings have found themselves on somewhat of a roller coaster, having ridden a couple of winning streaks mixed in with a couple of multi-game losing streaks as well. There have been some standouts on the young season so far as well as some duds.
So now that we’ve gotten through a quarter of the season, how have the Red Wing players performed and graded out?
