The stage is set for the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Writers Ethan Carter and Matthew Zator break down the end-of-the-season races, and the first-round matchups, as well as their overall picks in each round.
The New York Rangers won the Presidents’ Trophy. The last time a team did this and won the Cup? The 2013 Chicago Blackhawks in a lockout-shortened season. The Rangers won the trophy in 2014-15 and lost in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars headline a Western Conference with dangerous teams looming outside top spots. Watch out for the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche, who have each won a Cup in the past three seasons(Vegas ‘23 & Colorado ‘22).
