Calgary Flames’ Must Watch Games in 2023-24
August 25, 2023 by Ryan Gagne
Flames fans have renewed hope for a turnaround campaign in 2023-24 thanks to new leadership, including general manager Craig Conroy, special advisor Jarome Iginla, and head coach Ryan Huska, who are now calling the shots. Considering everyone gets a clean slate to start the hockey season, there are still some old scores to settle and opportunities to define a new era in Calgary.
As the ice goes in at the Scotiabank Saddledome this week, it is time to look into the top five must-watch games for the Flames in 2023-24.
Pacific Division Will Be Ultra-Competitive in 2023-24
August 24, 2023 by Alex Chauvancy
Last but not least in our offseason division roundup is the Pacific. It was a relatively quiet summer for Pacific teams, though there were a couple of big moves. But while most clubs didn’t swing for the fences, there’s plenty of talent in the division, which should make it ultra-competitive and the best Western division in 2023-24.
Flames & Sabres Could Be Perfect Trade Partners for Noah Hanifin
August 23, 2023 by Rupert McDonald
After a ton of buzz earlier in the offseason revolving around a potential Noah Hanifin trade, things have cooled off as summer has progressed. That said, the belief is that the Calgary Flames are still shopping the 26-year-old, who is believed to have told management he isn’t interested in signing an extension with the club.
Hanifin is a player every team in the NHL would love to have on their roster. When at his best, he is a top-three defenceman on any team and has one more season remaining on his contract with a cap hit of just $4.95 million. Suffice to say, general manager Craig Conroy should be able to bring back a very solid return should a trade take place.
