Flames: Top 5 Captains in Calgary’s NHL History
August 22, 2023 by Rupert McDonald
Since the departure of Mark Giordano, the Calgary Flames have not had a captain. That is expected to soon change, however, as newly appointed head coach Ryan Huska has made it clear he believes it is important for a team to have a leader. While he hasn’t given any specifics as to when that individual will be named, he has said he would like to have it happen before the 2023-24 season gets underway.
Who that individual will be remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure; they will have some big shoes to fill. There is reason to believe that a season in the AHL could benefit Coronato. However, he could bring a quality to this roster that it otherwise lacks: a natural goal-scoring ability.
