Calgary Flames Have New-Look Pro Scouting Department

The Calgary Flames in specific have had no shortage of buzz centred around them this offseason as they essentially cleaned house; they let go of most of their coaching staff including head coach Darryl Sutter and also said goodbye to general manager Brad Treliving. Replacing them are Ryan Huska and Craig Conroy, respectively. Additionally, they traded star winger Tyler Toffoli to the New Jersey Devils.
Now there are new people at the helm, trying to steer the ship in the right direction. However, a big part of the office staff overhaul that isn’t talked about as much is the changes that have taken place in the scouting department. Essentially the same members have been in charge of searching for NHL talent for the last seven seasons, so some changes may be refreshing. Let’s take a look at each of the new changes to the Calgary Flames professional scouting team.
Flames: Looking at Which Prospects Should Make 2023-24 Roster

At this point in time, it appears that the majority of the Calgary Flames’ roster will remain intact to begin the 2023-24 season. While several players remain hesitant in signing extensions, general manager Craig Conroy seems to be fine allowing things to play out and moving them during the season if the situation calls for it.
That said, there are still some questions, as to who will fill out a few of the open spots on this roster. With Darryl Sutter out, there is belief that some of the Flames’ prospects will get an opportunity to stick with the big club this season, which has fans quite excited. Let’s take a look at which young guns have the best chance of being on the roster for the opening night of the season.
Flames News & Rumors: Hanifin, Lindholm, Coronato & Backlund

In this latest edition of Calgary Flames News & Rumors, Noah Hanifin and Elias Lindholm were listed on The Athletic’s most recent trade board. In other news, optimism is high surrounding top prospect Matt Coronato heading into the 2023-24 season. Flames’ 5 Best Goalies Over the Past Decade

Ever since Miikka Kiprusoff retired, the Calgary Flames have gone through a carousel in the crease. That has changed in recent years thanks to the signing of Jacob Markstrom, but prior to him signing during the 2020 offseason, this organization struggled to find a reliable number-one netminder.
Due to the inconsistencies of their goaltenders over the past decade, Flames fans often grew frustrated with them, as they were often an Achilles heel on some otherwise strong teams. That said, while they may not have been top-tier starters like others in the league, they have had some goalies that were able to put together some strong seasons from a statistical standpoint.
