Boston Bruins’ 2023 Offseason Overview
September 15, 2023 by Hannah Garfield
Summer is over and the 2023 NHL offseason is now in the rearview mirror. It has certainly been an interesting few months for the Boston Bruins since the team was booted in the first round of the playoffs by the eventual Eastern Conference champions, the Florida Panthers.
Going into last season, there were major personnel changes around the team as former head coach Bruce Cassidy was replaced by Jim Montgomery. This offseason saw few changes to the front office and coaching staff, but some pretty significant changes to the roster. It was a fairly eventful offseason, though not necessarily in the ways fans would have liked.
Revisiting the Bruins 2017-18 Prospect Pool
September 15, 2023 by Scott Roche
If there has been one thing consistent with the Don Sweeney era as general manager (GM) of the Boston Bruins, it’s been that their prospect pools have ranked near the bottom of the NHL (from ‘Boston Bruins rank No. 32 in NHL Pipeline Rankings for 2023,’ The Athletic, Aug. 21, 2023). There are many factors for that, including trading away first-round picks at the trade deadlines and of course, the swing in miss of three straight picks in the 2015 Entry Draft.
Fast forward to 2017-18, the Bruins had a top prospect pool from where they were currently getting big contributions from prospects back then. Here is a look back at their top seven prospects from that season and how things have gone since then.
Boston Bruins’ 2023-24 Player Projections: Charlie Coyle
September 14, 2023 by Justin Caron
With time winding down until the Boston Bruins open the 2023-24 season, their roster is taking shape after undergoing many changes over the summer. As part of looking ahead to the coming NHL season, we’ll look at the Bruins’ roster and see what we can expect from them during the upcoming campaign.
Today, we look at Charlie Coyle, who is expected to take on a much more significant role with the club following the departures of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. He will be counted on to play amongst the top six rather than in the third-line role he has primarily played since coming to Boston.
